Mobile democracy

8 February 2012

This is an old post, so may include broken links and/or out-of-date information

Mzalendo (‘Patriot’ in Swahili) is a non-partisan project whose mission is to ‘keep an eye on the Kenyan parliament.’

Today Mzalendo's website has been relaunched, to help people find out about their local MP ahead of the 2012 general election. The new site's been built 'mobile-first' – mobiles being by far the easiest and most popular way to access the internet in Kenya. We worked with mySociety on design and frontend coding.
