Supercool at 17

This is an old post, so may include broken links and/or out-of-date information

Today, Supercool turns 17 years old. I’m marking this milestone fairly quietly, with some thank yous and a pledge for the future …

🧡 Thank you, Supercool team

My first thank you is to the team – thank you Josh, Kate, Sally, Soph, and Nick (oh, and James!) for being truly excellent humans.

Thanks for keeping each other buoyed-up with random nonsense in Slack, along with political predictions, and cute/amusing/odd pet photos. More seriously; thanks for making sure that clients’ve had what they've needed to keep in touch with – and entertain – audiences online while the world's been in a spin.

🙌 Extra-special shout-out to Josh 🙌 – our unofficial Games Master has been keeping us entertained on Wednesday afternoons, with the likes of Among Us, Skribbl and, my current favourite, Codenames. (I’ll volunteer to be Spymaster next time; promise.)

P.S. If you fancy joining the team, we’re hiring

🙌 Thank you to our ace clients

Despite the sector being one of the hardest hit by restrictions, the folks working for arts and cultural organisations – of all kinds and sizes – have fought relentlessly for artists, audiences, and fellow staff. You’ve created brand new strategies and plans in quick-smart time – then re-thought them when restrictions have changed. (Then changed again.) You’ve worked together, to strengthen messages and to share resources. You’ve worked closely with us, trusted us, and been excited to experiment and try new things.

You’ve been there for your communities – bringing food and supplies to people, while also bringing them together online through performances and workshops. And, during that brief respite when you were allowed to open your doors, you made audiences feel safe. You’ve found creative ways to give people hope and joy; entertaining us all and making us smile.

Thanks, and hats-off to every single one of you – you're amazing. We couldn’t have hoped to work with a better bunch of people during a pandemic!

A few more thank yous …

Huge thanks to those of you who've taken part in our Arts + Culture In Lockdown series. We've loved hearing your stories – so are cooking-up ways we can share more of your expertise, insights, and experience during 2021.

Thanks to all you sector support folks, who've gone above and beyond, but most especially …

Our pals Indigo, whose audience research has been so important, so insightful, and so quickly collated. Spektrix, Tessitura, and Ticketsolve – you've helped our clients feel extra-supported with advice and tools. And mega props to the small but mighty AMA team, who’ve pulled-together heaps of resources, and run such ace events and workshops. You lot are so great at bringing everyone together in a big, virtual hug 🤗

Supercool's pledge for the future

A year ago, we started planting trees for every website project we launched.

It was a mighty popular idea, so we're carrying on with that – and building on it.

Throughout 2021, in the lead-up to the UN’s Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, we’re setting ourselves some challenges – to help us become an even greener outfit.

Here's to Supercool's next 17 years. But right now – cake 🎂
