Fresh out of high school I didn’t really know what I wanted to do as a career.

I first studied graphic design, but found it all a bit too rigid. InDesign was clunky and every printer I worked with made my colours look different (ugh). I then pivoted to Software Engineering and loved learning how everything worked, but found myself getting distracted trying to make “Hello World” look aesthetically pleasing.

In my final year of studying I landed an internship developing a mobile app for a startup company. My boss quickly learnt of my history with graphic design so suggested I design the interface as well. The process was second nature to me and I found immense satisfaction making complex scenarios feel easy for the user. I finally found a career I wanted to pursue.

Over the next 6 years I slowly worked my way up the ranks and became Senior UI/UX Designer at one of New Zealand's leading digital agencies. I learnt a lot during my time there and worked with a wide variety of clients – from large government agencies to small family-owned businesses.

At the beginning of 2023 I decided to take on a new adventure. I packed up my life in New Zealand and travelled across the globe to settle here in the UK.

When the job at Supercool popped up, I knew it was the right fit for me. Supercool allows me to create useful and inclusive websites that mean something to our wider community. The work is incredibly rewarding and I continue to learn every day.
